RVH: Compassion for Pets, Participation in the Community
Did you know that much of Northern Nevada is considered a veterinary desert? This means there aren’t enough veterinarians or clinics to serve the many animals in our region. At Riverside, we understand the emotional toll this can take on pet owners, and we’ve made it our mission to bridge this gap. Through care, compassion, and community-driven initiatives, we are dedicated to improving the lives of animals and their families in Dayton and beyond.
Supporting Pets in Need
We are proud to partner with Feeding Pets of the Homeless (FPOTH(https://petsofthehomeless.org/), an organization that ensures pets of vulnerable populations receive the care they deserve. Riverside serves as a donation site (link:https://petsofthehomeless.org/get-help/find-locations/riverside-veterinary-hospital/) for food and animal care supplies distributed through FPOTH’s community food centers. Additionally, we donate our time and resources to support FPOTH’s annual wellness clinic. [Watch this video to learn more!](URL FOR VIDEO)
High-Quality, Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Services
At Riverside, we’re committed to reducing the number of unwanted or euthanized pets in Northern Nevada. We collaborate with several organizations to make spay and neuter surgeries affordable and accessible:
- CASI (Critter Fixer Program): Providing low-cost surgeries for pets in Carson, Lyon, and Douglas Counties.
- Project Kitty Kare: Partnering with ARGONN to offer low-cost spay/neuter services for cats right here in Dayton.
Every March, we also host a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) clinic to celebrate Dr. Collins’ birthday, focusing on sterilizing feral cats to reduce overpopulation and improve the health of our beautiful feral colonies in Lyon County.
By the Numbers
In 2024, Riverside donated more than $100,000 in spay-neuter services and sterilized 273 animals at reduced costs. This is just one example of how we are making a tangible difference for pets and their families.
At Riverside Veterinary Clinic, we believe every pet deserves a chance to live a healthy, happy life. By working together as a community, we can continue to provide compassionate care and meaningful solutions for the animals of Northern Nevada.
